Hill Country Bicycle Touring Club
Bullis County Park
This is information for the HCBTC ride, Saturday, August 21, 2010. Website is www.HCBTC.org
This ride starts at Bullis County Park, which is on Blanco, north of 1604 (see map link below). The park is on Blanco Road, 7.7 miles north of N. Texas 1604 W. If you are coming from I-10 area, then If you travel from east of 281, or travel up 281, take Borgfield Road off 281 to get to the park.
The route will go 32 or 48 or 64 miles through northern Bexar County hill country.
Hot weather note - there is a great little 20 mile option, and we can review
that before start, if requested.
This map shows the three routes, We leave Bullis County Park and go North on Blanco to Specht Road. Just follow that and then turn left on Leroy Scheele Road to Amman. Right on Amman, then left on Persimmon Hill/Brand Road. Then right on Hwy. 46. After a ride down 46, the 48 and 64 mile riders go north, while the 32 mile riders catch a slight right on Old Boerne, sliding up just South of H.E.B. Please print and follow the maps on this link (click for your distance).

Thanks so much to sabikerides for the excellent map!
There is really no rest stop after Hwy 281 for either route, so load up on water and take your breaks there at 281.** After crossing back over the creek, anybody that needs either a break or a brownie can ride up Bulverde Lane and back. We can have lunch afterwards.

This route does cross Cibolo Creek. Needless to say, a summer rainstorm will cause a cancellation or adjustment. LOOK HERE for updates before the ride.

Re: question about rest stops:
I always do the 32 mile ride. There are several stops available at 281
at 46, I like the one on the East side of 281. After that, the route
doesn't really have rest stops (although we would regroup at Bulverde Road.)
Last time, I suggested that we go up to Bulverde after crossing the creek, and
some people went, but most just went on back to the park, without stopping.
I will note to anyone that needs bathrooms, these stops (working backwards from
the Bullis park end):
The soccer fields at Specht road
Spechts store
The store at Bulverde town
The soccer fields off Bulverde Road
The Shell station at 281. (This is a walk up the road shoulder, so I'm not
suggesting it, but could be used if necessary).
Finally, there are a few stops available (for guys) as they ride down from
Stahl.
Like I said, I covered this last time, and most people did not need to and did
not want to stop.
