COMPANY COUNSEL SERVICES
To Company Owners and Management:
Your concerns for your company include maintaining and increasing income, controlling costs, controlling liabilities, and having all members of the company team focused on company goals. Can these concerns be better met through your legal department arrangements?
As an attorney who has worked for business and individual clients for more than twenty years, I am disappointed to find how often legal resolutions were more expensive for clients, and/or work resulted in less benefit – because the client was unable to contact an attorney early in the process. Therefore, I have developed and promote a retained law office arrangement, providing it for companies in certain industries2. This provides for services similar to that of an “in-house” attorney, at lower costs. These services include contract preparation and review, statute and case analysis, monitoring industry legal concerns, making and defending claims in the regular course of business, training and preparing manuals for employees, etc4.
How much do you currently pay for in-house legal services? Typical expenses for even the smallest company can exceed $8,0001 per month.
If you use outside legal services, it can cost you more than $200-$300 per hour for attorney’s time, etc. – But more importantly, outside counsel costs you more every time you fail to call because of the potential costs or lack of availability – it costs you every time when in-house counsel could have warned you of a pitfall, could have trained your employees to prevent liabilities and take advantage of opportunities.
This office provides these services at a variety of levels:

2. Currently (2009 - 2010) we are promoting to companies in these areas: Real Estate investment, re-development; management, leasing, development and sales; Real Estate mortgages and lending; Business holding companies. We are trying to keep a narrow range of industries so as to improve the benefits to the clients – and we are selective as to the particular companies we engage. However, if you are in a different industry and would like to discuss possibilities, please call.
3 Lite and Mini– It is our preference that most client companies will use the Standard level or higher, providing for an adequate amount of contact and attention. However, for smaller companies, and some initial arrangements, we will set up the Lite or Mini version of the agreement. However, we request that the client remember and expect that this is a minimal arrangement, does not provide all the benefits of the Standard arrangement, and should not be used to determine the real value of a Standard arrangement.
4. Please remember that this arrangement requires enough time and communication to handle problems and opportunities early, not a way to reduce fees for continuous litigation and crisis management.
